| It
has now been some years since the Camerata XXI began
work on the musical and orchestral training of young people. In 1991,
a group of young musicians and teachers began work on a project which
aimed to integrate music students into the context of an orchestra.
As well as the desire to make good music, they were also able to boast
a clear and solid educational project. To my mind, it is this which
has made them progress. The coherence of a clearly outlined project
with predefined objectives, a solid series of achievements and the enthusiasm
and sacrifice required by this type of activity have turned them into
a point of reference in the world of music. It is said that Camerata
XXI is currently considered to be one of the most significant
institutions of its characteristics in the whole country.
It is for this reason that it has received recognition from public and private institutions alike, among which we should mention the Government of Catalonia and, in particular, the town councils of Tarragona, Reus and El Vendrell, the provincial council of Tarragona and the Caixa Tarragona Foundation, who have signed cooperation agreements and included the orchestra at the following musical events: music seasons at the Bartrina and Metropol theatres, at the Caixa Tarragona Auditorium and at the Pau Casals International Music Festival. All of the above has allowed the orchestra to retain a professional and permanent structure, as well as a continuous schedule of concerts. Among the artists collaborating with the Foundation, we should highlight the contributions of orchestral conductors Tobias Gossmann, Rinat Ibragimov, Alfons Reverté, Jordi Mora, Xavier Casademunt and Marc Moncusí; the choral director Josep Prats; violinists Evgeny Grach, David Ballesteros, Sergio Prieto, Evelio Tieles, Isabel Vilà, Kati Sebestyén, Raúl García, Jozef Toporcer, Alexandra Presaizen, Pere Bardagí, Heriberto Fonseca, José E. Tarrasó, Víctor Ambroa, Agustí Coma, Santiago Juan and Marc Oliu; violists Andriy Viytovych, Ervin Schiffer, Paul Cortese, Andreas Süssmayr, Todor Konstantinov and Jorge Hernández; cellists Roel Dieltiens, Tim Hugh, Leonid Gorokhov, Oleg Kogan, Richard Talkowsky, Edgar Fischer, Miguel Jiménez, Mark Friedhoff, Jorge Pozas and Gheorghe Motatu; double bassists Rinat Ibragimov, Thomas Martin, Jaime Robles and Xavier Puertas; and also Albert Mora and Bernat Castillejo (transverse flute), Joan Plaja (clarinet), Xavier Blanch (oboe), Josep Ma. Borràs and Ramon Aragall (bassoon), Manel Barea and Frantisek Supin (horn), Joan Arnau (trumpet), Daniel Ligorio (piano) and Josep Maria Roger (fortepiano). The determination of those who have been implementing the Camerata XXI project should not prevent them from renewing objectives and achieving good results. Theirs is an incalculable contribution to the world of music which, in spite of a lack of policies, structures and resources, they are gradually helping to establish and consolidate. And they are currently achieving this, steadily, by means of professional training of a permanent nature: the Orchestra CAMERATA XXI.
